Women's History Month

On August 26th, 1910 Clara Zetkin (1857-1933) made an appeal for an annual woman's day. She is the founder of International Women's Day.

March 8th 1910 was annually observed as International Women's Day.

In 2001, the International Womensday.com platform was launched. The website provides guides and resources, adopt an annual campaign theme that is globally relevant for groups and organizations.

In 2011 President Barak Obama proclaimed March 2011 to be Women History Month calling Americans to reflect on the accomplishments of women in shaping the country's history.

Inspire Inclusion is the theme for this year's International Women's Day. International Women's Day is a collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging Women's equaity.

Lean In Girls and Where Woman Work collaborate for International Women's Day to focus on developing women's talent in the workplace.

Important Dates In Women History

  • 1874- Equal Credit Opportunity Act passed

  • 1975- Taylor vs Lousianna the court denies states the right to exclude woman's juries.

  • 1981- Sandra Day O'Conner is appointed as the first female U.S. Supreme Court Judicial.

  • 2017- A Worldwide protest called the Womam's March happens the day following Donald Trump's Presidential Inauguration.

  • 2020- Kamala Harris is sworn in as the first woman of color as Vice President to Joe Biden.
